In our last two articles we have looked at the potential impact of mental health problems on finances and in reverse the impact of money on mental health.

In this article we share 5 tips on how to manage money.
  • Know how much money you have – keep a check on bank balances, know how much cash you have so you always know what you can afford to spend
  • Make sure you have enough for essentials like food – ensure you have enough for these items. If you don’t make sure you seek advice
  • Open you post – sometimes you may want to avoid facing bills but by knowing what’s owed will help you mange your finances
  • Review your circumstances – if your income, spending or requirements change make sure you keep relevant people informed (e.g. those who pay your benefits)
  • Stay organized – keep all of your paperwork in order so that you know what has been dealt with, what needs to be dealt with and where to find them if and when you need them.
Finances can have an impact on mental health so these 5 tips will help you manage your financial situation and help you avoid it becoming something that causes or impacts mental health illness.
