Job Description

Healthier Hackney is an exciting peer-led wellbeing project that aims to train staff in schools and community settings to recognise and support poor mental health in young people. We are looking for dynamic and creative 18-30 year olds with a lived experience of mental health issues to co-design and deliver a training programme for school staff and community workers. The programme will consist of a series of workshops focusing on the impact that periods of change and transition can have on youth mental health.

YWPTs will complete a core training programme covering mindfulness based-techniques, youth mental health and resilience, mental health first aid, facilitation and delivery skills. They will then work alongside the Youth Peer Services team to develop a series of three workshops covering specific times of change and incorporating the information from the initial training. Volunteers will go on to deliver the workshops in local schools and community settings.

Other Information

As this is a peer project all applicants must have lived experience of mental health issues and be aged 18-30.

Must be available for training which will run from 25th July- 16th August.

Successful applicants will be required to provide details of two references (character/ academic/ previous employer) to demonstrate their suitability for the training and previous examples of commitment. They will also be asked to submit details for and undertake a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check.
